Sweden’s Most Successful Private Company – 2006
Fi was delighted to take home the Supergasell Award, for being the most successful organically grown company in Sweden from 2003–2006. Our New York office began to grow rapidly to accommodate our new clients: MTV, NBC and AT&T.
Global Expansion – 2005
Fi spent 2004 traveling abroad every two months, to stay close to our 100% US-based clientele, which now included Ford and AOL. While Fi continued to grow in Stockholm, David quickly realized a second, US-based office was in order. The result – a sprawling two story loft in TriBeCa, which opened in New York City on July 27th, 2005.
Stockholm Established – 2003
Still on the move, Fi relocated to Stockholm in 2002, securing loyal clients Road Runner and Microsoft Xbox in the process. Up against multiple large, American based agencies, Fi won the contract for Road Runner's portal. The result was rr.com, the first portal built entirely in Flash; and fortunately, Fi’s second The FWA Site of the Year honor.
Starbreeze Strikes a Chord – 2001
In 2001, Fi moved once again to Uppsala, Sweden, closer to Stockholm. Sharing an office with a gaming company called Starbreeze Studios, Fi designed and developed their website which won The FWA Site of the Year award in 2001. We didn’t realize the significance of an FWA SOTY, until the phone began to ring more frequently.
Early Success From SiliconX – 1999
Fi began in Soderfors - a Swedish town one-mile wide with a population of 2343. There, David Hugh Martin sat down on his 128mb Dell and began building websites featuring funny pictures. Growing quickly, Fi expanded, opening an alternative internet cafe in the broadband connected Swedish village of Tierp in 2000 named “SiliconX”.
The team spent the rest of 1999 designing, exploring Flash, and eventually building a website for Fi’s first client.
