Overview:The Senior UX Designer is a key member of the UX team, and will at times lead the most complex and innovative projects. Senior UX Designers lead research and strategy, information architecture, and UX design. Senior UX Designers develop and understand the business requirements of the client and then translate them into intuitive user experiences.
Furthermore the person in this position must be a great communicator both verbally and in writing, a tactful diplomat, a problem solver, a thinker and an analyzer with the ability to understand and respond to user needs and must help create innovative ideas that ties all digital touch-points together to provide solutions based on user behavior. He or she must be able to thrive in a fast-paced business environment and have a proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and strict deadlines.
Key areas of expertise:
- Digital Strategy (holistic and tactical / long-term and short-term)
- Concepting / Pitching / Wireframing / User Flows / Prototyping / etc.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct user requirements gathering and analysis, competitive research, conceptual modeling, user requirements specifications, personas, storyboards, scenarios, prototypes, and design specifications
- Create project deliverables that clearly and persuasively communicate the UX strategy and the reasoning behind it.
- These deliverables include: project plans, discovery findings, research protocols, research findings, personas, task lists, workflows, wireframes, page maps, interaction and behavior specifications, and anything else required to describe UX plans and strategies
- Create user experiences that can be mapped directly to the business and user requirements of the project
- Work closely with strategists, analysts, visual designers, and developers advocating forthe best design for the end user, both taking and providing feedback to other
team members - Manage the interaction design process, drive decisions, track issues, and assist in estimating resource needs and schedules
- Contribute to the definition scope and phasing of project timelines
- Staying abreast of industry best practices for UX design and processes, and for any project, gathering sufficient information to support appropriate UX design for the given platform and technology
Key Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4+ years experience creating interfaces, large scale websites, or applications
- Proven experience leading UX on projects with an exceptional portfolio showcasing innovative design solutions
- BS or MS in Interaction Design, Cognitive Science, HCI, or equivalent experience
- Ability to work with technology experts to uncover and understand technology requirements and capabilities as they relate to design deliverables
- Use appropriate software to create professional-quality, well-designed deliverables, to Fi specifications
- Demonstrated experience using web analytics data to inform design decisions - must have an intermediate understanding of major web analytics packages and SEO strategies
- Very strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to assess data
- Very strong communication skills, both written and oral, using natural language especially focused on running work-sessions and articulating and defending design decisions
- Must have a thorough understanding of how to interpret user needs and translate them into requirements
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced/team setting environment
- Must be a self-starter who will bring original ideas and fresh approaches to each project they work on
